HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — UPDATE:
PennDOT has lifted some travel restrictions on Interstate 70 and the south/central part of Interstate 99 that were put in place due to the overnight ice storm affecting much of Pennsylvania.
The speed limit has also been restored for the south/central portion of I-99.

Ahead of potentially icy conditions in most of Pennsylvania tonight, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are issuing travel advisories and restrictions ahead of the storm and advising motorists to avoid unnecessary travel.
Vehicle restrictions are planned to begin in the western part of the state beginning at 10:00 p.m. Saturday and will roll out eastward through the overnight hours on Sunday.
Locally, the following roadways will have restrictions:
- Tier 4, effective 11:00 p.m. Saturday: PA Turnpike/I-76 in both directions from Cranberry (Exit 28) to Breezewood (Exit 161).
- Tier 3, effective 12:00 a.m. Sunday: I-70 from the Maryland border to the PA Turnpike.
- Tier 4, effective 12:00 a.m. Sunday: The entire length of I-99; and I-80 from I-79 to I-81.
"On roadways with Tier 4 restrictions in place, no commercial vehicles are permitted while on roadways with Tier 3 restrictions in place, no commercial vehicles are permitted except loaded single trailers with chains or approved Alternate Traction Devices," PennDOT said in a statement
Additionally, PennDOT said all school buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, motorcycles, RVs/motorhomes, and passenger vehicles (cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers are not permitted on affected roadways while restrictions are in place.
