22-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Train In Hicksville

Suffolk County resident Tyshawn R. Hunter, age 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was struck around 11 p.m., Friday, March 24 in Nassau County near the Hicksville Station, according to the MTA. The incident occurred west of the Hicksville station in an area unauthorized for pedestrians, MTA officials said. Service was initially suspended between Mineola and Hicksville Stations. MTA police, EMS, and the LIRR supervision team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Salon in Mount Kisco Raises $4,000 for Disaster Relief Fund

With the help of Elle Magazine and P&G as sponsors, the salon and day spa raised more than $4,000 last week for the Disaster Relief Fund, which is still helping those crippled by Hurricane Sandy get back on their feet. “I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers (HHH) benefit for fellow beauty professionals impacted by Hurricane Sandy, on December 9 at Canoe Studios in New York City,” said salon owner Ricky Mason.
