While Myrna Colley-Lee is best known as the wife of famed actor Morgan Freeman, she has her own profession. Myrna Colley-Lee was born in Hamlet, North Carolina in 1941. Colley-Lee earned a master’s degree in stage and costume design from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after earning a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Women’s College, University of North Carolina. She later entered the entertainment world as a costumer, set designer and art director.
Although not primarily an actress, Myrna Colley-Lee appeared in a single episode of the television show 60 Minutes titled Bridge to Gretna – It showed a situation where victims of Hurricane Katrina were prevented from crossing a bridge by armed police officers cross.
Morgan Freeman’s ex-wife has deep roots in philanthropy for organizations such as the Rock River Foundation, which operates as an arts charity, Charleston Arts and Revitalization Effort Inc – described as a local community arts organization, and the Arts Department of Mississippi State University. She has also performed at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Mississippi.

It was a mutual friend of theirs who started Myrna Colley-Lee and her ex Morgan Freeman went on a date that led to a long relationship. They later decided to take their romance to the next level in a small wedding ceremony on June 16, 1984.
While it was the first marriage for Myrna to Colley-Lee, Morgan Freeman had already been through one failed marriage. He is the ex-husband of Jeanette Adair Bradshaw and their marriage lasted 12 years, ending in divorce in 1979 but not before the birth of their only child, Morgana.
Myrna and her ex-wife had no children together, however, they adopted Freeman’s step-daughter E’ Dina Hines, whom they trained as their own. Sadly, E’Dina died at the age of 33 after reportedly being stabbed to death in 2015 with her boyfriend as the prime suspect.
The couple stayed together for 23 years, before Myrna Colley-Lee decided to file for divorce in December 2007. The reason for their separation was Freeman’s incessant extramarital affairs, particularly the one he had with Mary Joyce Hays, who happened to be a school teacher. There has also been speculation that the legendary actor was having a secret affair with his adopted daughter E’Dina Hines, who is his first wife’s granddaughter.
As if that wasn’t enough, Freeman was involved in a car accident with a woman named Demaris Meyer as a passenger in the car and shortly; Rumors circulated that they were lovers, although the duo denied this. Myrna Colley-Lee’s divorce from Freeman was finalized on September 15, 2010 and she has lived a single life ever since. She is currently working on an anthology chronicling her experiences as the wife of Morgan Freeman.

Myrna Colley-Lee has worked and made her own money as a costumer and set designer, but the divorce settlement she received from her marriage to Freeman defines her wealth. In fact, it was recorded as the fifth largest divorce settlement in history; Myrna was originally set to receive $170 million, but was later able to secure a whopping $400 million from their divorce.
