SAN ANTONIO - Officials have confirmed the cause of death of a mother at the center of an AMBER Alert back in March.
Savannah Kriger was found dead in the early morning hours on March 18, along with her 3-year-old son Kaiden at a West Side park.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Savannah Kriger died by suicide. Kaiden's death was ruled a homicide. Medical examiner said he died by a gunshot to the head.
The Krigers' disappearance began on the evening of March 17 when deputies conducted a welfare check at their home. With Savannah unreachable by phone, a sense of unease grew. Authorities located Savannah's car abandoned at Tom Slick Park on the West Side. This discovery led the search to focus on the park area.

Sadly, park police found the bodies of both Savannah and Kaiden in a nearby ditch.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that Savannah and Kaiden's father were involved in a custody dispute. The investigation found evidence suggesting Savannah left work early to pick up Kaiden from daycare, their last confirmed sighting.
It is unclear how this case moves forward.
