Hundreds of new charges have been filed against Edward McGuire Sr. for allegedly assaulting a girl over multiple years.

On Friday state police filed 720 additional sex-related charges against McGuire for assaulting a girl at his Allport Cutoff, Graham Township, home from the time the child was in kindergarten through the fifth grade.

McGuire is accused of assaulting the girl while he was "babysitting" and while his wife was at work.

He has been charged with 144 first-degree felony counts of child rape, 144 first-degree felony counts of statutory sexual assault of a person less than 11 years old, 144 first-degree felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, 144 first-degree felony counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and 144 third-degree felony counts of corruption of minors.

He is being housed in the Clearfield County Correctional Facility. His bail has been denied in the case for being an "extreme threat to children."

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge James Brian Glass, of Houtzdale.

Police say a 73-year-old Graham Township man has been charged in Clearfield County for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, Edward McGuire Sr. reportedly assaulted the girl on Aug. 27 in a bathroom at his Allport Cutoff home.

The girl was visiting someone at McGuire’s home when the alleged assault occurred, according to the affidavit.

McGuire has been charged with first-degree felony rape of a child, first-degree felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, second-degree felony sexual assault, third-degree felony corruption of minors and first-degree misdemeanor indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old.

He was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Jerome M. Nevling, of Kylertown, and was sent to the Clearfield County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 25 before Nevling.
