The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share their Montecito home with a flock of rescue chickens and their three beloved dogs – Guy the beagle, Pula the Labrador and another beagle they adopted last year, Mamma Mia.

Prince Harry and Meghan's eldest child, Archie, appears to love animals just as much as his parents and his sweet bond with the family's dogs is evident in their Netflix documentary. Take a look at the moment when the three-year-old takes Guy for a walk, as the Sussexes take their children to see some horses…

Archie, wearing a hoodie, light blue jeans and wellies, can be seen confidently walking the beagle as he follows his baby sister, Lilibet, on Harry's shoulders and Meghan into the stables.

When Meghan relocated to the UK in 2017 after her engagement to Harry, she was only able to bring one of her rescue dogs – Guy – after her other dog, Bogart, was too old to make the transatlantic journey.

In Harry's memoir, Spare, he shared that Meghan's love of animals helped her bond with King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla on their first meeting.

"Meg talked about her two 'fur babies,' both of whom were rescues," Harry wrote. "Guy had a particularly sad story. Meg found him at a Kentucky kill shelter after someone abandoned him in deep woods, without food or water. Beagles, she explained, were put down in Kentucky more than in any other state, and when she saw Guy on the shelter's website she fell in love.

"I watched Camilla's face darken. She was the patron of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, so these kinds of stories always hit her hard. Pa too. He couldn't bear to think of any animal suffering."
