Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania — Authorities say a 4-year-old boy in Rostraver Township was airlifted to the hospital on Thursday after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
Police were called to Gauido Drive after the child was found shot in the head, according to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office.
He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Authorities say the shooting appears to be accidental and officers at Children's Hospital are waiting for an update on the child's condition, but it is reported that he made it through surgery.
Rostraver Township police and Westmoreland County detectives are investigating.
