Constance Lloyd was a famous personality of the 19th century, best known as the wife of Oscar Wilde, a renowned Irish writer. Constance Mary Lloyd was born on January 2, 1859, in Ealing, England, to a wealthy family. His parents were Horace Lloyd, a politician and member of parliament, and Adelaide Atkinson, a woman from an Irish gentry family. She was the second of four children in the family. Constance was known for her intelligence and impeccable education.

In 1884, she married Oscar Wilde, and together they had two sons, Cyril and Vyvyan. Despite the scandals surrounding Wilde’s relationship with other men, Constance remained with him, even during his trial for homosexuality in 1895. However, after his conviction and sentence to two years of hard labor, their marriage became difficult. In 1898, they officially separated, and Constance changed her name to Constance Holland. After Oscar Wilde’s death in 1900, Constance devoted herself to the education of her sons and her career as a feminist. She died on April 7, 1898, leaving behind a legacy marked by her determination and her desire to support women’s rights.
