Members of Huntingdon County law enforcement agencies made a round of drug arrests Tuesday, according to a release from the District Attorney’s office.

The release said 28 arrest warrants were issued, and 16 of those individuals are currently in custody.

They said the arrests came after investigations by the Huntingdon County Drug Task Force involving local street- and mid-level dealers from the York area.

Pennsylvania State Police, the Department of Corrections and agents from the Office of the Attorney General were all involved in the sweep.

Huntingdon County District Attorney Dave Smith praised the combined efforts of all of the law enforcement agencies involved.

"We are grateful for the cooperation among these agencies," Smith said. "We have a new group of officers and agents who are working with the drug task force, and they have been very aggressive in their investigations. I expect to see more roundups in the future as these officers continue their investigations."

He also thanked the Pennsylvania National Guard for allowing police to use their armory during the arrests.

Preliminary hearings will be held at Huntingdon County Central Court on Dec. 28, 2018.

Officials said the drugs the suspects are being charged with selling include: heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, suboxone, Ritalin, hydrocodone, methamphetamine and Methadone.
