Suffolk County resident Tyshawn R. Hunter, age 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was struck around 11 p.m., Friday, March 24 in Nassau County near the Hicksville Station, according to the MTA.
The incident occurred west of the Hicksville station in an area unauthorized for pedestrians, MTA officials said.
Service was initially suspended between Mineola and Hicksville Stations.
MTA police, EMS, and the LIRR supervision team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
The on-scene investigation concluded at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, with trains returning back to operation on or close to schedule.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
