The modern Strawberry Festival follows a tradition started in the late 1800s.
What's your favorite way to enjoy strawberries? Some of the choices include freshly picked strawberries served in a tasty shortcake, whole berry pies, smoothies and chocolate-dipped creations, along with the award-winning strawberry jams.
There are even special strawberry souvenir items for sale.
The church will also be serving hamburgers and hot dogs so you can enjoy lunch or an early dinner at the Strawberry Festival.
In past years, over 2 tons of berries have been used in a number of delectable creations with nearly 1,800 pounds of strawberries handpicked locally at Jones Family Farms in Shelton.
There will also be inexpensive games for children and live entertainment, too. Over 90 juried crafters and fine artists from the East Coast will be selling their handmade items and paintings on the Green. Shop for flowers, clothing, fine art, jewelry, furniture, toys, glass, pottery, crafts of wood and metal and much more.
No admission fee and parking is free.
The festival runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. on the Monroe Green on Route 111.
